W. Illinois University Team Makes College Bass Fishing National For Fourth Year

Two members of the Western Illinois University bass fishing team have qualified to fish in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship on July 9, according to a release. It is the fourth year in a row that the school has sent a team to the college final.
Members of the duo include Kit Benson and Wes Lashmett, students at the school. They earned spots at the Bassmaster final by placing 8th at the Bassmaster College Series Midwest Regional held in Lacrosse, Wisconsin.
Lake DuBay, on the Wisconsin River, will host the national championship tournament. It is the first lake in Wisconsin to host the event, and was chosen for its midsize bass fishery and location near tourism opportunities for event-goers, according to a Bassmaster release.
