You can’t keep a goliath grouper if you catch one off the coast of Florida, but you can still try to get one on the end of your line. That’s what one fishermen did when he reeled in a 400-pounder a few days ago.

The difference with his approach comes in his choice of bait. Instead of using a fancy jig, Ryan Hein, a mechanic in the Tampa area, used a special lure that he built using a wrench.

There’s nothing too special about how he built it. Hein used a number 11 wrench, which he says isn’t that important of a tool for the work that he does. To that, he attached two large hooks.

After he threw it a couple of times, Hein said his pole bent in half, and he spent the next several minutes just going with the fish until it tired out enough and came to the surface. There’s a neat video of the catch here.
